Cleaning the Bosch dishwasher filter

Cleaning the Bosch dishwasher filterAfter each cycle, dirt remains in the dishwasher. Food residues settle at the bottom of the washing chamber, clogging the garbage filter. If you do not clean the PMM in time, it will work worse, and may even fail.

We'll tell you how to clean the filter in a Bosch dishwasher. Let's figure out where the element is located and how often the unit needs to be washed. We will explain how to properly care for the PMM working chamber.

Find and wash the filter element

Where is the unit that needs to be cleaned? Garbage filter for all dishwashers Bosch is located at the bottom of the hopper. Next to it there is a rocker that performs the function of spraying water. It’s not difficult to find the elements; just open the PMM door, take out all the dish baskets and look inside the chamber.

Before you start cleaning the dust filter, turn off the power to your Bosch dishwasher by unplugging the power cord from the outlet.

The further algorithm of actions will be as follows:

  • Use a dry cloth to remove any remaining water from the bottom of the washing chamber;unscrew the dishwasher filter
  • turn the waste filter plug counterclockwise;
  • carefully lift the filter cover;
  • rinse the part in warm water with the addition of dishwashing detergent (this will help get rid of fatty deposits and unpleasant odors);
  • Use a damp cloth to remove dirt from the hole.

Do not soak plastic elements in too hot water, otherwise they may become deformed. Once you've finished cleaning, put the filter back in place. When using the dishwasher daily, it is recommended to carry out a similar procedure once every two weeks.

Clean the filter regularly

As already mentioned, the garbage filter needs to be cleaned regularly. When using the dishwasher daily - at least once every two weeks. Otherwise, the filter unit will become clogged very quickly and the dishwasher will not work correctly.

If the garbage filter is clogged, it becomes difficult to drain water from the hopper. If the blockage is severe, then the waste liquid may not go into the sewer at all, but may flow out by gravity through the PMM door. Therefore, cleaning the element should not be neglected.wash the dirty PMM filter thoroughly

To ensure that there is less debris left in the machine after washing, be sure to remove any remaining food from the dishes. Don't forget to remove toothpicks from plates and tea bags from mugs. Otherwise, the filter will clog even faster.

Food debris that accumulates in the filter is a breeding ground for bacteria. If you do not clean the unit, then after a short time an unpleasant odor will begin to emanate from the hopper. But coping with this problem is much more difficult. This is why timely cleaning is so important.

Washing chamber care

The dishwasher hopper also needs to be cleaned periodically. Residues of food and grease settle on the walls of the washing chamber. Also, due to too hard tap water, limescale deposits form inside.

To clean the PMM washing chamber, you can use special household chemicals or resort to “folk remedies”.

If there is no special cleaning composition, then you should use the products available in every home. You can wash the dishwasher bin:

  • a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and soda;
  • a combination of vinegar and soda;
  • citric acid.

In the first case, you will need to mix 230 grams of baking soda and two tablespoons of peroxide. Form a ball from the resulting slurry and place it at the bottom of the dishwasher hopper.Then run the high temperature cycle (without dishes in the baskets). Plaque from the walls of the chamber will be washed away.wash the dishwasher inside

In the second case, you need to pour a glass of vinegar into the main compartment of the dishwasher dispenser. Sprinkle soda on the bottom of the working chamber. Afterwards, a long, high-temperature washing algorithm is launched. When the water inside the PMM heats up, pause the program; its duration can be from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the degree of contamination of the bunker. When the time is up, continue the cycle.

If citric acid is used, then about 200 grams of powder is poured into the bottom of the hopper, from which the dish baskets are first removed. The daily wash program then starts. When half the cycle has passed, you need to pause the algorithm, and resume it again after half an hour. You cannot wash your washing machine too often with lemon juice, as the product has a negative effect on the rubber seals.

As for special chemicals for caring for PMM, it can be bought in stores. There are even compositions recommended by the manufacturer Bosch. It is necessary to use the products according to the instructions on the packaging.
